Math whiz, and other marvels

Eli is now known as the class mathematician. He is just mad for math, and is always working on a new equation. This week it has been “10 to the power of ten, multiplied by 0, plus 1”  and “7 +7 – 14 +1000 =” … He’s a natural, I tell you. His teacher gave him a workbook to do on our vacation. Rather than doing the basics on the sheet (4+4 and the like) he broke out the algebra! see below:

In other news:

– his favorite word now is “Insufferable!” – he used it when he was trying to make baskets and kept missing, and now he seems to work it into every occasion

– Amy: “Please clean up your language – poo is a yucky word.” Eliot: “Okay, when we get home I’ll get a broom and clean it!”

– We’ve been really working on explaining the need for him to control himself and stop when he knows he’s doing something he shouldn’t, be respectful to others and property, etc. Makes sense. But his latest comeback has bumped up this conversation considerably and makes me want to take another philosophy class in order to counter Eli’s argument: “No! You don’t control my body! Only I control my body and if I want to do something bad I am allowed because it’s my body.”
