This week’s miscellania

Eli’s favorite video of late is “Schoolhouse Rock” – a series of about 50 educational animated pieces on grammar, science, multiplication, american history, money, etc. Being the mathematician he is, his favorite is multiplication, and among those, his favorite is the one on Zero. As he was watching it the other day, he announced, “Zeros are actually totally awesome!”

In a similar vein, the other morning at breakfast he said, “Mommy, I can count by 4s to 20, it’s actually really easy: four, eight, twelve, sixteen, twenty.” Then he shrugged and raised his upturned hand, like “see, totally easy.”

Yesterday when I dropped him off at school, Molly, the girl who goes to before school early like Eli does, was bursting to tell him something: “Eliot, guess what – my little brother stuck a tic tac up his nose!” I couldn’t stop laughing…

The kids at Prospect Sierra have reached their 100th day of school! Eli’s class had a big party, replete with all things 100, including trail mix made from 10 pieces of 10 different kinds of snacks. Apparently, each of the kids did some “100” thing – Eli’s was to do 100 “real pushups”! Apparently, from another parent’s account,  it was quite impressive.

His favorite idiom lately is, “In fact…”
