Update – April 24

Just a couple of tidbits from the latest life events of Eli:

  • He had his first swimming lesson last weekend – he couldn’t stop talking about it the whole week prior, and it looked like he was having a blast the whole lesson. We’ll keep it up until he’s got it down, which is likely to be quick. Not a better time for it, too – it’s hotter than the bejesus here!
  • Did I say it was hot last weekend? We went to the beach, as you will see in the pics below, and also had fun squirting water in the back yard and jonesing at one of our favorite restaurants, where we also entertained all the other parents’ kids with our toy bag.
  • I cannot convey how much Eliot is in love with his elephant right now, and this past week or so he has been playing with his others too, creating a big happy pachyderm family! The stuffed animal otherwise known as “I-O” is so threadbare it’s crazy. but he loves it – used to be a he and now it’s a her. Oh, and he also extends his love and care to his Power Rangers and Transformers, putting them lovingly to bed each night.
  • Okay, call us derelict parents, but Eliot has been watching copious amounts of TV lately – mostly a channel called qubo, which has very decent kids’ programming on 24/7. His favorite is Zula Patrol, which is about these aliens who live on the planet of Zula and surf on this encyclopedia that informs them about all this science stuff. It’s very cool – the other evening, in the middle of dinner, Eliot announces, “You know what, I can say OXYGEN MOLECULE, and HYDROGEN MOLECULE, and and if they aren’t together then there’s no water in the rivers or anywhere!” Impressive – heck, all we used to watch was Buggs Bunny beating Sylvester over the head with a frying pan!
  • Other funny things he’s into saying now, in response to our requests: He loves to salute us and exclaim, “Yes Sir!” That’s on good days. Mostly he replies, “N-O, no! That’s never going to happen…”

cheers, amy
