Update for the week of March 8

Hope you are all enjoying your daylight savings transition!

Outstanding for this week is our sheer amazement at Eliot’s athletic prowess. His teachers have been marveling at length about his soccer skills. Teacher Rosalinda pulled Scott aside at preschool img_39562img_40252drop off last week and went on and on about how how great he is – and, being a Latina, she is keenly sensitive to good ‘futbol’ skills. Teacher Simone told me this story one afternoon about how one day a bunch of kids came up to her and told her that they didn’t want to play soccer with Eli anymore because he was ‘cheating.’ So she says, “alright, you guys play and I’ll see what’s up.” So she watches for a bit and Eliot just basically runs circles around all the other kids, skilfully tapping the ball out from the pack and launching it down the playground for a ‘goal.’ She says, ‘he’s not cheating, he’s winning!’ He still kicks left almost exclusively, though he can and does do both. Everyone assumes he is on a team on the weekends and that we play all the time. Truth is, we NEVER play on the weekends – it’s innate, I tell you. Anyway, apparently the kids at school play for hours – Eli loves soccer and we think it’s time he get on a team this year….

In other news, we find out this Friday which school accepts him for kindergarten. My heart is set on Prospect Sierra (a really great private school, considered one of the best in the east bay, but as it happens just blocks away from our house), but Windrush would be great as well (also blocks from our house and awesome). We’ll clue you in as soon as we know.

The representative drawing and photo for this week, in the life of Eli… photo: out at Marina Bay beachfront on this beautiful early March weekend! drawing: drawing of Amy, with stamps at top left and right. Below are some other pics from the past week.
